This DVD of a day long seminar by Patricia McConnell is devoted to the understanding of who dogs are and why they do what they do. Taped in 2001 in Novato, CA at a two-day seminar on dog behavior and dog training, the package includes discussions, slides, videos and demonstrations of how genetics, in-utero experiences, early development and the present environment influence a dog's behavior. The seminar emphasizes positive training methods that combine ethology and learning theory to improve our relationships with our dogs.

About Dr. Patricia McConnell

McConnell is an adjunct associate professor of zoology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a certified applied animal behaviorist. Her recently released book For the Love of a Dog, is a bestseller, and has obviously struck a chord with pet parents because it puts forth a scientific premise that dogs have rich emotional lives and exhibit feelings like fear, anger, surprise, sadness, and love.  McConnell also has written a book I’ll Be Home Soon, about dogs home alone.
